Concepts in this chapter

The "Reading Guide" and "Key Points" for this chapter were summarized by an AI editor based on the main text below; they are not things Mike said during the lecture. The main text comes from Mike's commentary, and the blockquotes are Seth's original words (the portions Mike read aloud).

Introduction

This chapter starts from the premise that the physical world is composed of the contents of consciousness, explaining that the surface forms of the earth are a world consciousness or a mosaic of awareness, and that physical earthquakes correspond to inner storms of consciousness. From this it extends to the idea that counterparts, though sharing a pattern, are each uniquely free. The body and the earth are both creations meant to lead people into the essence of the soul; people are not their masters. That the world appears gloomy and cruel is a reality people themselves have created; trusting in the nature of existence is the key to exploring unknown realities and human potential.

Key Points in This Chapter

  • The physical world is composed of the contents of consciousness, and the surface features of the earth are part of a world consciousness or a jigsaw of awareness.
  • Physical earthquakes originate from inner earthquakes of consciousness or mental storms; the problems of the earth cannot be solved only on the physical level.
  • Counterpart persons share the same pattern, yet each possesses an expansive inner freedom and uniqueness.
  • Both the body and the earth are creations meant to lead the individual into the essence of the soul; the creator is not the master of its creations.
  • A grim and cruel world is a reality that people themselves have created; trusting in the nature of existence is the key to contacting reality and exploring human potential.

Main Text

On counterparts: negative life situations, Seth's world

Seth begins by saying:

When you look down at the earth from an airplane, you can see mountains and valleys, rivers, plateaus, cities, fields, and villages. From that angle, you understand that the world has material content.

What does "content" mean here? It means these material things share certain commonalities. For example, there are hills, there are rivers, they exist at a given time, but their characteristics will change. It means the world has its material content, its shared common features.

In that sense, the world is composed of material components; there is indeed matter. But that whole set of things—what you see from the airplane: mountains, rivers, plateaus, cities, villages, deserts, and so on—this material layer on the earth's surface is the only part of the picture you see, what your physical eyes can perceive, but it is not the whole. This whole set refers to the material existence you see from the airplane looking at the earth's surface; it is like a combination of surface forms.

In psychic terms, your world is composed of the content of its consciousness.

In essence, our physical world is composed of consciousness.

The map of your continents and oceans, seen as a whole, has each part like a piece of a puzzle, all fitting together perfectly, flowing smoothly into the natural structure of the world.

Continents, oceans, mountains, rivers, deserts, grasslands, cities, villages—these things are all like small pieces of a large puzzle, fitting together perfectly with one another, flowing smoothly into the natural structure of the world, like a complete puzzle.

So, at any given time, there is a world consciousness, a perfect puzzle of awareness, in which every identity, large or small, has its role.

At any particular time, in this present moment, the world can be said to have a world consciousness. This consciousness is a perfect puzzle of awareness, and every part, regardless of its size, has its own unique significance of existence, together forming this one complete puzzle. Remember, this is a puzzle of awareness, spoken of from the psychic perspective. So within the physical world you see, there is a world consciousness within it—a consciousness of the earth. This consciousness is like a perfect awakened puzzle; it knows that every part performs its own function, what each part should do, the distinctive character of each part, each playing its own role, and then everyone consistently and cooperatively forms that one complete picture of the earth.

Earthquakes and Inner Consciousness

Geologically, in physical terms, there are earthquake eruptions. Are earthquakes bad things? We often say earthquakes bring disasters, and people turn them into statistical charts. But there are earthquakes of inner consciousness, and physical earthquakes are formed by the storms of these inner earthquakes of consciousness — or of mind, or of being.

This storm of mind or being is an eruption, in which one section of world consciousness is suppressed in one place and erupts in another.

If we look into the inner causes of the earthquakes we see on our planet, they can be understood as the consciousness of a world, the consciousness of the earth, this overall consciousness, being suppressed in certain places, while another place needs release. You can imagine that physical earthquakes should be caused by inner earthquakes of consciousness. So earthquakes may be bad, but they are not bad in the way we truly understand — they are simply a kind of balance — where one place is suppressed, another part rises up. If you understand it from the perspective of tectonic plates, it is very easy to understand: earthquakes are basically the result of forces acting on plates, where one part presses against another.

If you could operate your planet with a different technique, you could see the content of the world psyche, that is, the spiritual content of a world, and see that world consciousness shines far more brilliantly than any city blazing with lights.

If you could change your perspective, change your technique for operating your planet. Do not operate your planet from the physical perspective — for example, as soon as we mention an earthquake, we go solve the earthquake problem; today there is a flood, we solve the flood problem. For instance, in 2021, the floods this year were predicted to be related to El Nino and so on; the drought in California in the western United States, the drought in Brazil, a major grain-producing region, and so on. Solving these problems from the physical level, including global warming and the like, is also one way of solving problems.

He says if you could operate this earth in a different way, if you could view it or operate it from the perspective of the earth's inner consciousness — planetary consciousness or earth consciousness — then it would be a different situation altogether. If you had such awareness and understanding, you would see the world psyche, the world consciousness, as clearly as your brightly lit cities, and even brighter and more brilliant. It is just that you cannot see it; you do not believe it exists, so of course you cannot see it.

In other words, do not always solve the earth's problems from the material level. Can we solve the earth's problems from a deeper level? Can we engage in deep communication with the earth's consciousness? Through a connection, a kind of communication or exchange with the earth's consciousness, we can achieve an understanding and realization of the earth's overall environment, rather than merely at the material level.

You could see the points of intense activity.

If you could see the earth's consciousness sparkling and shining, brilliant and bright, those places that glow brilliantly — some of them are points of very intense activity — then you would know where earthquakes will occur and where volcanic eruptions will happen.

See the birth of new myths and the death of old myths as clearly as you might see a landslide or a tidal wave.

If you could see this inner process of the earth's evolution, you could see the birth of a new myth and the death of an old myth as clearly as you see a landslide or a tidal wave. What does the birth of a new myth and the death of an old myth mean? For example, in ancient times, how heaven and earth came into being, how the world was created — that is myth; in Genesis, God created the world in seven days1, that is also this kind of myth. If you could see the birth of this planet, it would be like seeing the birth of a new myth; the succession of one earth era would be like seeing an old myth die and a new myth arrive. If you could see such changes, then you could see things as clearly as landslides and tidal waves. Earth consciousness, world consciousness, would be so obvious to you — it is just that you have not used that inner ability to see it.

The Patterns of Matter and Counterparts

All the physical parts of the earth are related, so consciousness also forms its own kind of inner structure.

We can all understand that the physical parts of the earth are all related; they form a whole. So is the inner side of consciousness also a whole? Is there an inner structure of consciousness? Yes.

Once again, the physical structure emerges from within this.

The physical structure emerges from that inner structure of consciousness.

Here he has actually already made a shift, which is to say that, from the standpoint of consciousness, there is a certain correspondence between the consciousness of this planet, the consciousness of the earth, and our human consciousness. What do we use to perceive this earth consciousness? You can only use your own consciousness to perceive it. So how can such a tiny consciousness as yours perceive the consciousness of the entire planet? He says they are the same. We know that our world is created by consciousness born of our beliefs, and that this consciousness creates the physical world; we can all understand that. So the physical structure emerges from the inner structure of our consciousness. Therefore, there is a certain commonality between the consciousness of the earth and your inner consciousness. When you can explore, within the inner world, how consciousness influences the outer world, then you will be able to fully understand how this earth consciousness operates the natural changes of this earth.

Continuing:

You are indeed counterparts of one another, yet, just as there are many, many kinds of physical forms, so counterparts follow a broader inner freedom and find an even greater variation in characteristics.

What he actually wants to say here is not to have you explore how to control the consciousness of the entire planet; that is a question on another level. Through these geological changes of the earth, he wants you to understand the relationship between your counterparts and yourself. He touched on it earlier and stopped there, without going deeper. He did not go into detail about how you can truly observe a tsunami or a landslide, or how you can perceive outer things through awareness in consciousness. Actually, this is very simple; you can feel it, and even animals can know it. As long as you open up your conscious awareness and open up your inner senses, you can feel the changes in this earth consciousness. But that is not the question he wants to discuss today.

What he wants to say is that there are many, many kinds of matter, and among the things within each kind, they are both the same and different from one another. For example, on our earth there are mountain ranges; these mountain ranges may each be different, but the mountain, as a pattern or model, has an abstract model of a mountain. Yet once the model of the mountain is made concrete, every mountain is completely different. This mold is changeable, not fixed; every time it takes form, it is different.

He wants to use this example to say that this physical world appears to have many kinds of forms, with different categories, and the individuals within each category are also different. We can call each category a mold, or a family of consciousness. For example, mountains are the consciousness of mountains, oceans are the consciousness of oceans, flowers are the consciousness of flowers, trees are the consciousness of trees; these can be divided into several major categories, and within trees there are many subcategories.

What he is saying is still connected with spiritual families and families of consciousness. Counterparts are the same: each of us has our own counterparts, and counterparts can be understood as a group of people who share a common characteristic and form one category. But the variations within that category are endlessly strange and diverse. Counterparts are not the same as you, nor are they similar to you; very often they are a kind of contrast or complement, like complementary colors, mutually complementary colors, or contrasting colors in the realm of color. If you have studied color, you know how rich color is, and how many subtleties there are between one color and another. Although many masters of color or books on color will teach you, each person's sensitivity to and awareness of color itself is different.

Since there is a very broad inner freedom among counterparts—just as mountains have the mold of a mountain, yet every mountain is so different—counterparts are the same. Although you all come from the same soul and have formed counterparts, there is a very broad inner freedom among you, and the degree of freedom is very high. Why is such a great degree of freedom given? It is in order to find an even greater variation in characteristics, that is, to pursue diversity and uniqueness. Although they all come from one soul, diversity is what he pursues, so in counterparts he gives this much freedom and this much openness, allowing them to pursue such great difference.

The Body and Miracles

As I did indeed hint, your body is a miraculous organism.

Your body itself is a miracle, truly magical.

And you have only learned its simplest structures so far.

You have only learned a superficial layer of the human body's structure, and you do not understand the body's miraculous aspects at all. You do not understand the basic attributes of the soul and the body, neither the material attributes of the body as cells, nor, even more so, the attributes of the inner soul. But yet:

This body has been carried over to you.

This wording is very interesting, "carried over to you." Although you do not understand the body, do not understand its attributes, do not understand its deep structures and inner composition, this body has nevertheless been handed over to you. Such a precise, advanced, multi-dimensional world created such a precise toy and directly gave it to you to play with. You can learn through this body, learn through knowing -- this "knowing" is your body, very interesting. Your wisdom is far inferior to the body's, yet the body is the learning tool most readily available to you, closest to you, requiring the least effort. If you truly figure out your own body, you will know this universe pretty much inside out; if you figure out how the body's cells, tissues, and organs operate, you will understand yourself, nature, and this universe pretty much inside out as well.

The Purpose of Earth and Its Creator

The nature of the earth is to lead you into the essence of the soul.

Why is the earth structured this way? It is the same as the purpose of the body. The body is so exquisitely constructed and given to you to play with — is it not meant for you to explore the essence of your inner soul? Yes. Why is the earth designed this way, so exquisite, so beautiful, so perfect, such a vast stage and theater designed for you? It is also meant to lead you into the essence of the soul. The design of the earth, the design of the human body, and the design of all things are all extremely ingenious — tools, props, and scenes prepared for you, precisely so that you will study them carefully. Through studying these material things, you come to understand that their true inner structure is that spiritual, conscious existence. Through understanding the interrelationship between this conscious, spiritual nature and materiality, you then come to understand the essence of the soul, and even the truth of the universe. This is the meaning of the earth's existence.

You create physical reality, yet you do not know how you do it.

You are creating this material world, but you do not know how you do it. We say beliefs create reality, but even now you still do not know how you create it; you only know the general idea. After studying the Seth material, he gives you a rough outline of the process and procedure — tiny black holes and white holes, energy, units of consciousness, units of consciousness — you know a bit of the general picture. But you still do not know the specifics. Those who have not studied the Seth material know even less about how this material world came to be; they may not even believe that they themselves created this material world.

So this beautiful structure of the earth is meant to lead you to question your own origin. The earth is designed so exquisitely — mountains, rivers, flowing water, the natural environment — you seem to be a product of this earth, yet in essence you are not a product of this earth. It even leads you to wonder where this exquisite structure of the earth came from, why the earth is so good and so wonderful — the temperature, the environment, the conditions, the atmosphere, the oxygen, the humidity, the changing seasons — everything is designed so exquisitely, as if someone made it for you. Then you start to wonder what is really going on, how the earth actually came to be.

Scientists go and study it, and through their own research they conclude that it is a miracle. You can look up this kind of scientific discussion: [what is the probability of a planet like Earth, suitable for human survival, being born in the universe — it is one in so many billions, an extremely low probability, lower than the probability of a spaceship falling from the sky and hitting you on the top of your head2] (what is the probability of a planet like Earth, suitable for human survival, being born in the universe — it is one in so many billions, an extremely low probability, lower than the probability of a spaceship falling from the sky and hitting you on the top of your head2). That is how the earth came to be. Then you think, how can the earth be such a coincidence? Is this a coincidence?

Through these reflections, through questioning how the earth came to be, studying how the earth came to be, and then studying how you yourself came to be — how did I come to be? How did my body come to be? Where did it come from? Evolved? Descended from monkeys? Evolved through this process? When you begin to question these things, you begin to understand.

Nature is meant to be your teacher, and as you understand it, nature is meant to be your teacher; you are to learn from nature, and you are not its master.

You are a student of nature. The purpose of nature's existence is to teach you how to explore yourself inwardly. Then you might say, but did I not create nature? Did my beliefs not create the material world? The thing I created comes back to teach me — which of us is actually more advanced? I am the one who created it, so how can it teach me?

Seth is afraid you might have this misunderstanding, so he says directly:

The creator is not the master of his creation.

Here you need to understand: you created the material world, but you are not its master. It is not the case that because you created it, you are its master — these are two different things.

For example, did you create your child? Is the child something you and your husband, or you and your wife, created together? The child was not originally on this earth; through the union of the two of you, the child was born onto this earth — you created the child. So let me ask you: are you the master of your child? No. At most, you are a guardian. You may say, I am the child's parent — that is undeniable — but being a parent does not equal being a master. These are two different concepts.

Although this example is crude, it helps you understand the statement "the creator is not the master of his creation." Although nature is created by you, you are not its master; on the contrary, you must learn from nature.

He is only its creator.

The creator is only the creator; he is not the master. Because he does not try to control, he is not the master — and that is why he creates. Because he does not control, he creates — this is what creation truly means. The true creator, the true maker, does not control what he has created. Only in this way can he continue to create, and what has been created can also create. If what he created were constantly controlled by him, then the created thing would lose its creativity, and this world would die — it could only pass on one generation.

In fact, he is hinting at how we should educate our children. Many parents treat their children as their own — they see themselves as the child's master, and the child becomes like their little slave, a slave to studying. They do not make the child do physical labor; what do they use the child for? Studying — to satisfy their own vanity, their own anxiety, their own fear, their own inner sense of powerlessness and social anxiety. They turn their children into slaves to studying. At this point, you should know that this approach is wrong.

Control and Imitation

When you try to control power and people, you are always imitating.

This is very interesting. When you try to control people or control power, what are you doing? You are imitating others. This is not the true creation that comes from your own heart, not your own creation and experience; this is you imitating. Don't say, "I am also creating, I am also making my child..." No. You are imitating other parents, other company bosses, other leaders, other administrators.

To a certain extent, the world imitates itself.

The world is also imitating, because everyone is imitating. You imitate others, others imitate you; if everyone imitates each other, isn't the whole world imitating itself? Because there is a pattern there, a pattern of control. Everyone just follows that pattern and puts their own creativity into it and that's enough: however others manage their children, I manage mine the same way. Do you think this is right? No. But since everyone else manages their children that way, I do too. This is a pattern, and I can't break free from it. So the world imitates itself. This sentence is very profound.

But those patterns are always changed to some degree. So no object is a copy of another, even though they may look the same.

Things made from the same mold are not identical. Because when someone copies, they add something of their own. When they copy from the original, they add something of their own, and once they add it, the thing changes. So the currently popular "tiger dads, tiger moms," "chicken-blood parents" and so on, are the same in nature, the patterns are the same, but when applied to each specific family, they are different.

This itself is a pun. This session particularly clearly shows the several levels at which Seth speaks. The other level he did not spell out is that, from the material level, everything has a template: mountains have the template of mountains, buildings have the template of buildings. If you have studied architecture, there is a famous core course in architecture called pattern design3. In architecture there are certain patterns. Why do we say patterns exist? Pattern design is a required core course in architectural design.

Let me give a simple example. What is a pattern? For example, we all know floor-to-ceiling windows are very comfortable; floor-to-ceiling windows are a pattern. You say the characteristics of my building don't allow me to use floor-to-ceiling windows, because not all buildings are suited to floor-to-ceiling windows. Then people discovered that even if you don't make it a floor-to-ceiling window, if the height of the window, the height of the windowsill, is lower than 60 centimeters, everyone will feel very comfortable. Even if it is not a floor-to-ceiling window, as long as the window is low enough and large enough, people will still feel comfortable. This is a kind of pattern. When you are an architectural designer, you master various patterns, and when your client asks you to design something, you know how to apply these patterns.

This pattern design is so important that it has become a required course in software program development. You might ask how this classic book in architecture, the author's name I've forgotten, something like Alexander something4, I can't remember, became a required course for software developers and software engineers? Because there are also patterns in software; it is the same. There are also patterns in software engineering.

In other words, if you carefully observe this world, it has its own patterns. Everything I am talking about here are material patterns: for example, the golden ratio, for example, the 432 Hz structure5, why most of our screens are 4:3, these things all have origins. This 432 structure is very interesting; if you don't know about it, you can look it up. On our YouTube channel, there is a group member named Wei Lin who specifically made meditation music entirely in 432 Hz audio. So music has the patterns of music, architecture has the patterns of architecture, software development has the patterns of software development, dance has the patterns of dance, painting has the patterns of painting. This world has the patterns of the world.

And what does the pattern he mentioned mean? Although the pattern is the same, the things that come out are endlessly varied and diverse. Patterns exist, but once things are concretized, they are different. Many things look the same, as if they were copies, but they themselves are different, they look the same, but they are not the same.

The Renewal of the World

In your terms, this world is utterly different from one moment to the next.

From the perspective of our human time, from one moment to the next it is utterly different, because everything has changed. He says all of this with emphasis and a tone of delight — Seth is quite excited here. Seth generally gets like this when he is excited, but after he gets excited, Jane often really cannot keep up with him. Not keeping up does not mean she cannot keep up linguistically, not that she cannot transmit it well, but rather that in that state Jane actually cannot fully understand what Seth is trying to say. So some sessions you find very obscure and hard to understand — the reason is that in this state, Seth's thinking jumps, and his consciousness jumps too. After the jumps, some gaps are left, some chasms, and if you cannot keep up with the jumps, you do not know where he jumped from or to.

And each smallest portion of consciousness chooses its reality from an infinite field of possibilities.

Every small consciousness chooses from infinite possibilities the reality it wants to manifest in the next moment. There are so many consciousnesses in the world, and together they all choose their realities from endless possibilities, so this world is forever new, forever constantly fresh, forever different from the previous second.

Only because of the indescribable freedom of the delicate world within your skull, computations far beyond those of the conscious decisions you think you make become possible, a pattern of interrelationships.

What does this mean? The indescribable freedom of the delicate world within your skull — that is the freedom of your consciousness. This freedom of consciousness produces an ability that your conscious, logical, rational, enormously complex computations cannot keep up with. The unconscious things within your little skull that you have not captured surpass the computational ability of your conscious portion. And what it has been processing all along is a pattern of interrelationships — the interrelationships among all things. That is the most ingenious part of it.

Counterparts and Interweaving

Counterparts are so cleverly interwoven that each counterpart is unique, one of a kind, and completely free, while participating in such a powerful, infinite creative adventure that atoms remain in certain specific forms, while stars, likewise composed of atoms, shine in the distant starry sky.

What he is talking about here is actually "counterparts," and the word is not quite fitting here -- it is not only "counterpart persons," but also the meaning of counterpart things. Seth here is not referring to counterpart persons, but the word is also a pun, and you can also understand it as counterpart persons.

How should we understand counterpart things? They are the same things that come down from one pattern, but what they manifest is so different. They are said to be one set of things, yet they are so different from one another, while internally they are things under a common pattern. They are a pattern of mutual relationship. They are so cleverly interwoven, each one unique and completely free, participating in such a powerful, infinite creative adventure.

What he wants to say is that the atom is, hypothetically, a pattern. All atoms in the world are the same. An iron atom on Earth and an iron atom on another planet outside the Milky Way are the same in terms of the atomic pattern. But the things atoms compose are not the same -- a small iron part in your phone, and a planet composed of iron elements on another planet hundreds of thousands of light-years away, which from your side you see as a star twinkling in the sky. The two are the same pattern, both composed of iron atoms, only their organization is different, their scale is different, their form is different, but the pattern is the same.

At this point you understand what Seth is trying to say -- why here I emphasize that translating it as "counterpart persons" is not appropriate, but it is an allusion, a pun. You can also use this to understand counterpart persons: the differences between one counterpart person and another may also be this enormous. They interweave with one another for a common pattern, yet the differences are also very great.

In the most obvious and simplest act of saying a sentence, the familiar and the unfamiliar both cooperate closely behind it.

When you say a sentence now, this act is the simplest, but behind it how many things you know and do not know are operating. This can be understood; he has talked about it before. How many molecules and atoms are involved in operating? Your vocal cords, airflow, lungs, muscles, your whole body, including the organization of language in your brain consciousness. Your atoms certainly do not know this language. Do atoms have anything to do with the sound of these words you speak and this language? It seems the two have no intersection at all. But without the actions and movements of these atoms, without these cells, without these muscles, how could this sentence exist? Let us not discuss the complexity behind this sentence on the level of language and consciousness; just speaking of the complexity on the material level also exceeds your cognition. What you know is muscles, vocal cords, airflow passing through the vocal cords producing different vibrations, and so on, but how exactly it moves, who directs its movement -- that becomes too complicated to explain. Behind such a simple thing, it is full of the miraculous close cooperation of what you know and what you do not know.

So do the relationships between all things, and the relationships between objects and objects, exceed your imagination? You are surrounded by miracles. All around you are miracles, whether this Earth is a miracle, this ecological environment is a miracle, the atmosphere is a miracle, your physical body is a miracle, the animals you see, every blade of grass and every tree before your eyes -- every single thing is a miracle.

Why Does the World Seem Gloomy and Cruel

So why does this world often seem so gloomy and cruel? Since this world is so magical, such a miracle, why is the world I see so gloomy, so cruel? Why is it full of wars, disasters, major epidemics, plagues? Why are there so many poor people, such a huge gap between rich and poor? Didn't you say this world is magical? Can't such a magical, miraculous world solve these problems? If it can do such magical things, why can't it solve such simple problems? Can't it solve a wealth gap? Can't it solve an epidemic?

You see, can you tell how Seth's thinking jumps here? He jumps extremely fast; most people can't keep up with him, don't know what he's doing.

Why do your fellow creatures sometimes seem like animals without emotion? Monsters of emotion?

Why are your fellow human beings so cold? Why does no one bother when a person lies on the sidewalk? Why can you pick up weapons to kill your own kind?

Why is it that you have mastered science, yet have become so strange, so devoid of emotion?

Why is science so cold? Why is this science you tout so lacking in human warmth? Why do you experiment on other animals? In order to study how to extend human life, you don't hesitate to harm all other kinds of life, and you can't see the inner connections between them.

Spiritual idiots.

Why are you all like idiots when it comes to spirituality? Why can't material like today's Seth material still not form a mainstream educational culture? Why can't it become a consensus of humanity? Why is it still treated as something relegated to the cold palace, something not recognized?

Devoid of any love or truth?

How much do you really know about true love and truth? How many of you can truly understand real love? And how many can know what truth is?

And then do you even have any inheritance of graceful animality?

This phrase curses without using dirty words -- "graceful animality." You can't call this human nature; you call this graceful animality. Seth is too harsh when he scolds people. He doesn't say you lack humanity; he says you are graceful animality.

Why do you pass down only this graceful animality? It's one thing that you haven't passed down the light of divinity, but why haven't you passed down the light of humanity? Why haven't you passed down the compassion between human beings, that kind of love? Let alone what is within divinity. Why do you pass down only that kind of coldness?

Why does it seem to many of you that this species, this race, is doomed to perish?

Why do so many people firmly believe that this world faces a great destruction? How many TV shows, how many movies have we made like this -- humanity doomed to destruction. In Christianity, why does Christianity so firmly believe that humanity will one day be destroyed? If you understand Christianity, you know that one day all of humanity will be destroyed. When the end of the world comes, Christ will return, and then there will be the great judgment; all who died before will then have to accept Christ's judgment -- turn right and ascend to heaven, turn left and descend to hell. Why must there be this great judgment? Why must it be at this time of humanity's destruction? Whether it's Mayan culture or other civilizations, there is always a prophecy of humanity's destruction. The key is, why do we still believe it?

Go ask Christians whether they believe it. Almost every Christian believes it, because this is fundamental to Christianity, something at the core of its doctrine: the world will ultimately be destroyed, and only after the destruction can Christ return, and only then can those who did good ascend to heaven. They're just waiting for it. To put it bluntly, many people are eagerly waiting for that day of destruction so they can get to heaven sooner. They don't hope for humanity's good; they hope every day for humanity's total destruction, for the whole world to be destroyed, so they can go to heaven. If humanity isn't destroyed, they can't go to heaven either. This is truly a strange paradox. In other words, the whole of Christianity believes that humanity should not be alive at all -- this is the end-times mentality.

Many people say America has this end-times mentality: just borrow money, and if there's no money, borrow more; if there's no money, print more. Anyway, I never planned to pay it back; in the end the whole world will be destroyed together, so why should I pay it back? Then everyone goes to the kingdom of heaven together. This is a joking way of saying that this kind of Christianity always has end-times thinking in it, so it produces these end-times movies. Why is it that in such a magical world, a world surrounded by magic, why have we humans ended up in such a situation? Why do humans feel they shouldn't even be alive? Why do they feel their own race should be destroyed, that they themselves deserve to be destroyed? And God has done this before, not just once -- He already did it once before, through Noah's Ark, already destroyed it once.

Why do some of you, in your quiet moments, feel that this is a just verdict?

Why do many of you, in quiet moments, feel that this final great judgment is just? Why do you all feel that the doomsday judgment is right, and you're eagerly waiting for that doomsday judgment -- even though you haven't died yet, after you die you just line up and wait?

You Create Your Own Reality

You create your own reality.

Seth emphasizes this again. This statement carries great weight. Do not blame others—this universe is magical, this earth is magical, and this magical thing has been given to us, but what have we used it for? The situation we are in today is entirely of our own creation. You cannot blame anyone—do not blame God, do not blame heaven, do not blame financial oligarchs or the gap between rich and poor, do not blame these rulers, do not blame this or that—blame no one, only blame yourself. You created it, you created it, you created all of it.

So although this session is somewhat difficult, he touched on many deep topics. He spoke loudly, in a voice that startles and awakens—he was afraid you would not hear, afraid you would not understand, afraid you would not be roused to awareness, so he spoke very loudly.

Generally speaking, most of you, along with others of your kind, live within your own world.

This world is entirely formed by yourself, a world you yourselves have created. Why does he say most people? Because there are still some people who are not like this.

Those of you who do not believe in war have not experienced it. It may wrap around you, surround you, but you have not experienced it.

Many among you do not believe in war, do not believe in the existence of war, or do not believe in the impact of war, or do not believe in the harm of war. Many people every day clamor that they would not hesitate to go to war, for the sake of so-called nationalism, statism, or some other reason—as if war were no big deal. There are also some people who do not believe war exists in this world at all, who feel the world is perfectly peaceful. Whichever kind of person they are, these people have never experienced war. Throw you onto a battlefield, let you stay on a battlefield under heavy fire for a while, and you will change your view. War surrounds you, but you have not experienced it.

When Seth said this, it was 1975. At that time there was still anti-war sentiment in America, and the Vietnam War was still ongoing6, so he had this anti-war sentiment, and it had its historical background. His meaning still applies today: some people feel that war is very far away from them, so they are not active in stopping war. In many instances of online mob speech, people often incite and stir up hatred between nations and states, and bystanders enjoy the spectacle without worrying that things might get out of hand—what does it matter if we fight a war? Seth's point is that you have not experienced war, so of course you would think that way.

Those of you who do not believe in greed have not borne the consequences of greed.

You do not believe there are greedy people in this world. You do not believe that those financial oligarchs, those people infinitely richer than you, are even greedier than you. You are far poorer than they are, but you are not as greedy as they are, and you have never experienced the consequences of greed.

If you still see it—he said, if you can still see greed, that is because it is part of your reality.

If you can still see greed, then that greed is part of your reality. To put it more bluntly, it is because there is also greed within you—it is only the difference between the pot calling the kettle black. What you are greedy for and what others are greedy for may not be the same. What you are greedy for may be just a few pennies, while others are greedy for an entire country, an entire industry, scheming for tens of billions or hundreds of billions—not on the same order of magnitude at all. It is not that there is no greed in your heart—if you had no greed, you would not be able to see greed, and you would not even know what greed is.

Ask a very young child what greed is, and he cannot say clearly. But you know what greed is. Why? Because you have greed within you. If you were not greedy, how would you know that greed exists?

If you are truly not greedy, and yet you can still see greed, then perhaps you are serving as a contrast for others, and you form your own reality.

There are indeed people who are not greedy—I do not deny that. But if you are truly not greedy, and yet you can still see greed, then you exist as a point of contrast. Because if there were no one as incorruptible as you, the concept of greed would not exist. If everyone in the whole world were greedy, then the word "greed" would no longer exist either.

Why is it that in Buddhism, among "greed, anger, and ignorance," greed is considered such an important point? It is precisely here. If you are not greedy, but you can still see others being greedy, that proves you still have the concept of greed in your mind, and it proves you want to exist as a point of contrast. And this greedy world is created by you—you simply want to be a very strong contrast to the greedy person. Your very existence proves how greedy others are, and you will feel smug and say, look, I am not greedy, he is very greedy.

Seth once gave another example with the same meaning: a person who especially loves cleaning, who is especially obsessed with cleanliness, cannot tolerate others and thinks everyone else is lazy. That person is the contrast to laziness. It is the same principle. He is not lazy—he really is not lazy—but his existence promotes laziness. The person who is not greedy, his existence promotes greed. Why is there still so much greed in our world? It is because you form your own reality. You say you are not greedy, but you are also forming this reality of greed. In just this short passage, Seth actually has very profound meaning—he has described the inner roots of all the varied phenomena of our world.

There are more worlds than you suppose, more worlds than we know of. And within your own personal experience, each one of you has had a hand in the world you know. You and your counterparts together form it.

His meaning is that the world has become what it is today, and you bear an inescapable responsibility. Everyone has had a hand in it, and even your counterparts have had a hand in it. Perhaps you personally did not take part, but your counterpart did—you are an honest official, but your counterpart may be a corrupt official. Do you not also have a hand in this? Because you are in a counterpart relationship.

Your physical body is equipped to perceive far more than you now allow it to.

Your physical body, your material body, can sense far more things. Right now you only let it sense material matters, but in fact it can sense many other things as well.

You are a part of every other person on earth, and you have a connection with every leaf, every frog, every nail.

See how great his leaps are. He says you are all inwardly connected, and the reason the world has become what it is today—you cannot escape your share of responsibility.

You choose the city you live in, the state you live in, the country you stay in. No one forces you to remain there, unless you find another excuse to stay.

Where you live is your own decision. You cannot live in—for example, the South Side of Chicago in the United States is a very chaotic place with a very high crime rate7—you cannot say it is all someone else's responsibility.

Choosing Environments and the Inner World

You think you were forced to live in an area with an extremely high crime rate, but no one is forcing you to stay there—unless you give yourself an excuse. Where you live is your own decision. You choose your environment, you choose where to reside, and therefore you also choose the land of your psyche. Your inner space, your inner world, is chosen by you. You can travel from one psychic land to another place you like, just as you can travel to other parts of the physical world. You can move away from the South Side of Chicago to a community and environment where public safety is very good—not to mention faraway places, even the North Side of Chicago is much better than the South Side, so why not go?

Some remarkable travelers have never left the country of their birth, but in the spiritual world, they have always been traveling, always traveling in the spiritual world, so they do not need to physically leave a country or leave a place. The most typical example of this is Zhuge Kongming, who knew all the affairs of the world from within his thatched hut8; he did not need to travel around everywhere.

What Seth means is, if you want to experience this world, you can experience it freely in the psychic world. In other words, if you want to experience a beautiful world, you only need to make your inner psyche beautiful, and this world will become beautiful. If you want to experience greed, war, and crime, and if your inner world is filled with all of these, then there is no way around it. If you do not want to experience them, you only need to shift your thought and change your inner world. Once your inner world no longer contains the concept of greed, the concept of war, or the concept of violent crime, then your world truly will not contain them.

This may sound very far-fetched, but Seth uses this example precisely to explain this principle to you. Where you live—is it not decided by you? Then the environment in which your psyche dwells is even more decided by you; your autonomy is even greater. In the physical world you may still be limited by many external environmental constraints. For example, if you want to go to Switzerland, you need a visa, or you need long-term residence in Switzerland. Without that, how can you go? But psychically you can. You can psychically open up a pure psychic land like Switzerland, and you can live within it.

Michelangelo and the Hint of Human Potential

Seth again said aloud:

Michelangelo wandered through the centuries, picking up those vistas and concepts the way other people travel from one country to another buying postcards.

When he mentioned Michelangelo, he was referring to the ceiling painting Michelangelo did in the Sistine Chapel9, which he painted from 1534 to 154110, painting Genesis11, depicting the entire Genesis from the Old Testament, painting nine large scene panels. Michelangelo traveled through entire centuries, traveled through the early history of humanity, traveled through time. Just as when you travel abroad you buy postcards and collect them, Michelangelo picked up the vistas and concepts within time, and then painted them out. His genius let you see what you are; through his frescoes he let you see clearly what you humans are, because what he painted were all those figures from Genesis, including the great flood, Noah's Ark, and so on.

He said:

Yet that is only a hint of the innate potential of your species.

This sentence itself is again a pun. He was simultaneously pointing out that Michelangelo's painting technique was supremely masterful, and likewise, it hints that our species has figures like Michelangelo, that we have such abilities. Under this kind of ideal omen, under the ideal state Michelangelo painted and the supreme level of his painting skill, you will seem inadequate by comparison, as if you are not good enough. He is amazing, you are not -- but your reality has already allowed for the greatest freedom. He displayed his potential and ability, and you also have even greater freedom, only you have not displayed it yet.

This means you have already given yourself the entire range, so all possibilities are capable of being explored, and no practically feasible one will be excluded.

To put it in plain words: you have infinite possibilities, nothing can limit you, and you can explore any place, any potential, any ability.

What Those Who Have Explored Say

Seth was very loud and excited throughout this entire session. He said:

This species gave itself no built-in taboos.

Humanity did not give itself any predetermined fate, any destiny. Everything is in our own hands, decided by ourselves. The infinite possible range of human abilities will be explored. And what do those who chose to explore this path of humanity's infinite possibilities have to say? Has this exploration of humanity's infinite possibilities always been there? It has been there from the very beginning of humanity. And of course, are we, this current group of people, also exploring? We are exploring too.

He said that those who have already explored, the advice they give us, the encouragement they give us:

We trusted that our creativity would find its own way.

When you go exploring, you often don't know what the path is. Because when exploring within the infinite possible range of human abilities, you often don't know where to begin, nor where it will lead. But you don't need to worry. You must trust in our own human creativity. This creativity itself will find the path it should explore.

And if there were nightmares, we would awaken from them, and even learn from them.

Don't be afraid of taking a wrong turn. There is no such thing as a wrong path. If what you happen to encounter is a nightmare — that is, if in your exploration you happen to come across something truly terrifying, or walk into a very bad situation — we will awaken from that nightmare, and we will even learn from that nightmare. Look at how optimistic this spirit is, how utterly fearless — when you encounter a nightmare, don't be afraid; learn from the nightmare. What if you do encounter a nightmare? Get scared awake, cry, and never dare to go again? No. We awaken from the nightmare, and then we go and learn from the nightmare.

We dared to push the dimensions of existence into those realms that only gods had ever touched.

The dimensions of existence — for us humans now, before learning spiritual knowledge, the dimensions of existence are only three-dimensional, a three-dimensional world. But we know that existence is multi-dimensional. Exactly how many dimensions there are, we don't yet know. But we dare to expand the dimensions of existence from the three-dimensional world all the way into those realms that only gods have ever reached — the places gods have explored, we go explore them all. Look at that boldness.

And through our supreme sensitivity to experience, discover the divinity that gives our humanity meaning.

What is our ability? We have a supreme sensitivity to experience. This is our tool. We have feelings, we have perception. We are able to have fully keen awareness and perception of experience. This is the most miraculous thing about us. And only through this can we discover what? Discover the divinity that gives our humanity meaning. That is, only through our feelings can we discover the divinity that gives our humanity meaning. Look at these prophets who have explored before — their breadth of spirit, their power to inspire, the boundless encouragement and urging they give to us who come after.

The Sacred Error

Next Seth spoke in a whisper, his voice relatively low:

It is only through the compassion we have learned that we can understand the sacred error that gave us the gift of birth.

You may not be able to understand this sentence right away. Why is it the sacred error that gave us the gift of birth? You may come to understand this in the books we will interpret later, and in the early sessions he also discusses these things. Actually, it is a dilemma that existence itself faces with regard to itself -- existence itself encounters three dilemmas, and a dilemma is a situation where no matter what you do it is wrong, a paradox of the self with the self, or rather three paradoxes. So he calls it here a sacred error, because this is unavoidable.

I will not expand on this here, because once expanded it becomes a very grand chapter, not something that can be clearly explained. Just remember here: this error is a sacred error. In other words, it could not be otherwise, this error is necessary, and only through such an error can correctness be recognized. Without such an error, one would not know what the truth is, so it is called a sacred error.

To put it in plain terms, it is only through the compassion we have learned that we can understand why we ourselves are gods, yet must forget our divinity; why we must go through such a process of inward searching, from the most basic animal nature to human nature and then to divine nature, in order to discover our own inner divinity. Why, being gods, do we create such a situation for ourselves?

Soul and molecule each are learning, each are forming reality, each are a part of divinity, in which each counterpart has a role to play.

This last sentence was inserted by Seth. Actually, the original text has little to do with counterparts, but Seth wanted to emphasize the importance of counterparts to us as persons. In other words, do not assume that counterparts are necessarily good, necessarily great, glorious, and correct -- because you have learned spiritual knowledge, you are a great, glorious, and correct person, so your counterpart must also be great, glorious, and correct? Not necessarily. So he was afraid you might have this misunderstanding, and he specifically emphasized it: whether good or bad, right or wrong, these are all your counterparts, and each has a role to play. They do not affect the development of the divinity of the whole, nor the radiance of the divinity of the whole.

Just as in human history there have been wars, plagues, and regressions, but these do not affect the brilliance of humanity as a whole; the flaws do not obscure the jade. That is what he meant.

Seth's World

Then a break. Seth took a triumphant break; after finishing this passage he felt relieved, at 10:18.

Jane had spent most of the day writing lyrics for rock music. She really does like rock music, which is interesting. Now that activity reminded her of a poem she wrote in May 196312, and she recited a stanza from it:

Magic is my other name My other name is Magic I am so brave and tall That no one knows who I am Least of all myself

This really was a poem written in 1963. Don't you think Jane had real talent here?

Then at 10:15, Jane said: I'm waiting for material. Now I'm getting something different — you can tell this session is extraordinary, this session is not quite like the others. But it's still not very clear, not very distinct, so I'll wait a bit and see.

Then at 10:20, Jane said: I'm getting something confusing again. That bigness is really too vast, so vast I can't put it into words, I don't know how to describe it, there's a sense of pressure. I'm trying to go beyond myself again. Jane, half smiling, shook her head in confusion and said: Well, I'll see what I can do. Earlier she said "I seem to have gotten him," and then she said "I'll see what I can do," meaning that this material was really difficult for her, and she would do what she could.

Then at 10:55, she quieted down, and Seth came back.

Seth said:

In one way, I live in a realm more direct than yours, and that is one image of it.

That feeling Jane had just gotten during the break, that vastness, that vastness too great to describe in words — Seth said that is where I live, and I let Jane feel it through an image like this.

By "more direct" he means closer to reality, closer to the truth. He said:

I allow myself more acknowledgment of my own existence.

Unlike you humans, who do not dare to acknowledge your own existence, do not dare to acknowledge your own divinity, do not dare to acknowledge the divine part within you. He said I dare to acknowledge it more than you do, I am closer to the truth, and I more directly dare to acknowledge their existence.

This passage is already separate from what came before; this is another theme. Seth uses his own kind, through themselves, to tell us how we should be. Earlier he talked about those prophets who went exploring humanity's infinite potential, and through them he gave us encouragement; but that was not enough, so now he personally steps in — this is no longer from the human perspective. From his own perspective he says: How do we do it? We acknowledge our own existence more than you do.

Remember here, acknowledgment of one's own existence includes both the good and the bad — when I say good and bad, I mean from our human perspective. Actually there is no good or bad, but many of us selectively accept one part of ourselves and do not accept another part.

For example:

I speak the words your cells would speak, if they could speak.

How does he demonstrate being "direct," demonstrate acknowledgment of his own existence? Are your cells your existence? Yes. Are your cells wiser than you? Do they know more? But do you acknowledge it? Do you acknowledge that your cells are smarter than you? Do you acknowledge that this body is smarter than you, smarter than your brain?

If you acknowledged it, you would not go in for all those health regimens, you would not go in for all those medical facilities. If you acknowledged that it is smarter than your brain, what use would it be to keep fussing over those things? You do not think they are smart, so you feel you need to take care of them. This body cannot take care of itself, so you developed medicine, technology, and such things to take care of the body. So you do not believe in their existence.

Seth said, what I say to you is actually what your cells would say to you. My wisdom is about the same as the wisdom of your cells. Everything I tell you, your cells already know. It is right inside your body; every cell of your body knows everything I know. But they cannot speak, so I speak for them.

Now do you understand what he means? He said: I acknowledge this inner existence of ours. You humans do not acknowledge the existence of this thing, and that is where the problem lies. Second, we are more keenly aware of reality than you are, we perceive it better. We live in the present; you do not live in the present.

But the conditions of existence in every place and every time are the same, and those conditions bring each self its own greater understanding of itself.

This passage is not easy to understand. He said "the place where I live is more direct than yours," and then he continued: existence in every time and every place — the key here is this "existence"; existence is the subject. If we rearrange this sentence: existence, in every time and in every place, the conditions under which it exists are all the same.

Suppose existence is a thing. For example, you are a kind of existence. Although you are only a focus of consciousness, from a higher level, but do you not also have a physical body? With a physical body, with flesh, is there not existence in time and space?

In our three-dimensional world, must our awareness of ourselves be on the level of time and space? From the material level, that is how it is. So on the material level, the existence of our own body, or this existence that is ourselves — existence is the larger thing. When he says existence, he is always talking about the essential thing. The thing that is truly you transcends everything, transcends your counterparts, your personality, your entity, your soul — it transcends all of them. Because this universe is an existence; All That Is is an existence. Existence is the most fundamental thing.

All right, let us not get hung up on the words. Suppose existence is a state. This existence in three-dimensional space-time, with place and time, exists under certain conditions. And those conditions are precisely what make it different from others, and also what give it a greater understanding of itself.

You may still not know what he is trying to say here. What he wants to say is this: if there is a soul that has several counterparts, is that soul the existence? Existence in different times and spaces, does it not have different counterparts? Then the counterparts in different times and spaces, are the conditions of their existence not different? Their background, culture, society, including geography and humanities, are all different. And these different conditions — the conditions of existence of the counterparts of the same soul in different times and spaces, that is, the differences in their environments — are precisely the precondition for that counterpart to better understand himself.

It is precisely because the environments of existence are different that he can discover what he truly is. To put it simply and plainly: counterparts need to be in different environments in order to discover who that true self really is. That is why counterparts are needed. Put this way, you can understand what he means.

Seth himself felt that what he said was a bit disjointed. He paused for a long time, not knowing how to continue.

Ruburt is now experiencing what he calls a quality of vastness, an expansion of physical as well as psychic consciousness.

What Jane can feel now is exactly that sense of vastness he described. This quality of vastness is an expansion of physical and psychic consciousness. When these two consciousnesses, the physical and the psychic, expand, what Jane is feeling now is something so vast it cannot be described in words.

In which the dear familiar world seems small, but doubly precious.

From this vast perspective, the familiar three-dimensional world becomes very small, yet all the more precious.

In our consciousness, it is also so.

From Seth's perspective, your human three-dimensional world is so tiny, but even though it is so small, it is still so precious. That is what he means. During Jane's break, he actually wanted to bring Jane into his own state of consciousness — a state of expansion of physical and psychic consciousness — to let Jane experience how he views our physical world. He wanted Jane to shift her angle of consciousness and see what our three-dimensional world is like. Jane did see it, but she could not describe it in words. Jane said, "I can't say it, I don't know what the feeling is, an indescribable vastness, a sense of pressure."

So Seth said, this is how I see your world: although it is very small, it is very precious.

The silly wars, even those still to be fought, are but dim memories, once vital, but in the greater awakening, dropped like nightmares.

From our perspective, your world is so small, and yet within such a small world, you still have to fight wars in it, wars every day without end. Those silly wars — including the ones that have already happened and the ones about to happen — to us, once we have entered this vast, grand expansion of physical and psychic consciousness, they are all like dim memories, like nightmares within a greater awakening.

They are now in a greater awakening, but within this greater awakening there was once a dream, a nightmare, but this nightmare is hard to remember clearly. War is like a nightmare within humanity's greater awakening, a nightmare that is hard to remember clearly.

So even in this moment, Ruburt faintly feels a nostalgic memory of lives that came and went, as you might feel about a favorite dream you can only barely recall.

The lives that died in those wars — every life is a unique experience and history of its own. In this state, Jane can perceive the memories of all the lives that died in all of humanity's wars, including future wars and past wars. All of it floods into Jane's conscious perception at once. But Jane can only feel it faintly, because the amount of information is too great, too intense; it is impossible to feel all of it. It is like a dream you had last year, where you can still vaguely remember a bit of the dreamscape. Your memory of last year's dream is very hazy. That is what Jane is feeling right now.

Their memories, they represent a present whose uniqueness is self-evident. They are past, but they also actually represent a present, and this present lives in every consciousness, and is more important than you understand.

He is saying that these human histories of war, these events that happened within such a small, lovely, precious river of historical time and space from their perspective — they are not the past, they are our present. Their uniqueness is self-evident.

The painful experiences and memories of those who died in wars live in every consciousness. Although you are not aware of it, every person's consciousness contains the memory of war, because this is humanity's shared memory. And this memory of war is more important than you humans understand.

Trust in the Nature of Existence

There is no real law you can follow that can bring you into contact with the present moment of reality; only this trust in the nature of existence can do that.

You might think: then how can I come to feel this memory of human warfare that exists within human memory, within every consciousness? Seth says there is no law here that can let you feel the present moment, feel the present moment of reality. There is only one law -- and that is trust in the nature of existence.

This sentence is a key point in the latter half. Trust in the nature of existence is everything you can have, and it is also the only magic weapon, the only talisman, the only tool you can use in the exploration of consciousness, in the exploration of unknown reality, and on this path of exploring humanity's infinite possibilities -- or rather, the most effective thing is this one thing. Whether in the three-dimensional world or in the multidimensional world, anywhere at all, it is the most central anchor that steadies the sea. As long as you have this, you need not fear anything.

What is the nature of your existence? The nature of your existence is divinity. You are one with All That Is, and you are a branch of All That Is. Only this trust in your own nature can let you press forward courageously and prevail in every undertaking in the exploration of unknown reality.

And whether or not you recognize it, that trust is within you.

You say, what if I don't trust it? He says it doesn't matter whether you trust it or not; that trust is within you, it is within you. Whether or not you recognize it, that trust is within you, because it gives you your present experience.

And no matter how your intellect questions it, that trust rests securely upon the soul's great creativity.

No matter how your brain, your thinking logic, questions the idea that "the nature of your inner existence is divinity," no matter how your reason feels this is absurd, impossible, it doesn't matter how much you question it. This thing is something within you; all your present experiences, all your feelings, all your creations, are built upon the divinity within you.

That is the essence. The nature of existence is above everything -- above the soul, above creation, above all things, because the nature of existence is All That Is, and the nature of existence is of the same substance as All That Is. This is your nature.

He uses another analogy:

The soul, then, constantly creates bodies, and each individual on the face of the earth at any given time places his trust in that reality, and that affirmation, that feeling of affirmation, is the same as any plant knows.

Suppose there is such a soul, constantly creating its own counterparts, projecting them onto the earth batch after batch. Each counterpart, within its own particular space and time, trusts that the nature of its existence comes from divinity. The reason it can exist in that world is precisely because it has such a trust.

What does "that feeling of affirmation" mean? It means the feeling of affirming that this trust exists, the unwavering affirmation of the nature of one's own existence -- the same as a plant's unwavering affirmation of its own existence. Do you think a flower wavers about its own existence? Does a tree waver about its own existence? It believes in its own existence, believes in the meaning and value of its own existence. It doesn't need to accomplish any great deeds, doesn't need to grow especially tall, especially straight, especially useful. Its existence is where all meaning lies.

Just like each of us -- put your heart at ease, be grounded and steady. Your existence is a wonder, your existence is the manifestation of a miracle, your existence is the most wondrous expression, the most wondrous realization of the creator of all things in this world.

It's just that you may be a little flustered. Why? Because your intellect always comes out to make trouble. Your intellect always says: "Oh, can you really do this? Can this really work out if you keep developing this way? Look at how miserable you've ended up, you should be ashamed to even speak of yourself." It always comes out to strike you down, deny you, attack you. This is the worst thing -- self-denial and self-negation, this is the greatest blow to a person.

Some parents are good at striking down their children from a young age, and this is the most unacceptable thing. Some children, when they grow up, are affected their whole lives by their parents' negation, and this is a terrible thing. Remember, negating a person is the most brutal kind of behavior, the cruelest kind of behavior, more brutal than anything. And yet many parents keep this on their lips, negating their children every day.

Toward yourself you must be affirming, and where does this firm affirmation come from? It comes from this trust in the nature of existence.

Any concept, creative insight or dream, rests upon the same certain trust.

Any concept -- remember, any concept, any creative insight and dream, including dreams which you think are unreliable, including insight, intuition, inspiration -- all of it rests upon this same certain trust: trust in the nature of your own existence. That is why there are dreams, why there is your intuition, why there is your inspiration, why there are concepts, why there is everything in this world.

Throughout this passage he keeps emphasizing trust in the nature of existence; this is the most crucial sentence.

Rob's Notes

The dictation ended, the session ended, and good night was wished. Seth was satisfied, particularly satisfied. The content of this entire session, in terms of the height of its energy, was higher than his usual sessions, so although it was short, the content was very rich. Everyone should take care to understand it thoroughly.

Rob's notes actually don't have much in them. He said that in this session most of Seth's material was delivered with strong emotion. This reminded him of several sessions from more than ten years earlier in which All That Is's three creative dilemmas were discussed. In that discussion, Seth spent a great deal of space discussing the three dilemmas, a very profound discussion -- the painful process of creative and existential forces seeking expression, and how the beginning of that seeking may have represented the birth pangs of All That Is as we know it.

Regarding the interpretation of this "sacred error," those sessions were Sessions 426 through 42813, and you can go look them up. They should be in the seventh volume of The Early Sessions; I'm not quite certain of the exact dates. All right, when we get to The Early Sessions we'll talk about this part of the content again, and that's all for the interpretation of this section.
