Research Program / Claims / affirmation-6

Affirmation allows you to simultaneously contain the vision of the 'ideal self' and its natural deviations, and to readily expand existing qualities from the current standpoint.

肯定使你能同时容纳“理想自我”的愿景及其自然的偏离,从当下所在之处出发,欣然扩展现有特质。

This program treats the Seth Material as a source of hypotheses, not as doctrine to be validated. Lead dossiers are AI-compiled from the corpus with a book-and-session citation after every statement; literature reviews are AI web-search summaries whose references were all DOI-verified against Crossref; the agenda draft is an AI synthesis. None of it is Seth's original text, and none of it represents scientific consensus. English fields are machine-translated; the Chinese text is authoritative.

Adjudicating experiment
The main trial, pre-registered with 600 participants across three groups—self-compassion plus realistic goals, pure ideal-self imagery, and neutral reflection—follows learning engagement and objective progress for 6 weeks after a standardized failure, with a 3-month follow-up. Additional question 4 sets up a separate 2×2 trial with 480 participants on affirmation × future self-imagery, using recorded events, misleading information, and source memory tests to differentiate error reduction, error increase, and confidence changes at 24 hours and 2 weeks. Another 180 participants undergo pre-registered default mode network connectivity analysis, which serves only as mechanistic exploration.
Suggested paper title
Self-Compassion, Future-Self Reflection, and Adaptive Updating of Goals and Episodic Memory
What it would overturn
The claim that acceptance promotes improvement does not necessitate overturning mainstream theory; only altering the facts of independently stored past events would challenge the conventional temporal-causal ordering of macroscopic events.

Specificity of Seth's formulation
Accepting deviations while continuing to grow aligns with self-compassion models, lacking additional predictions; the added 'changing the past' is not in this citation and cannot be incorporated without verifying the original text.
Note
supported is limited to the coexistence of acceptance and improvement; prospective memory refers to remembering intended future actions; research on false past memories should use episodic memory and misinformation paradigms; default mode network correlations cannot prove reverse causation.
