Convert the methodological suggestion into an incremental prediction test: approximately 240 participants complete cardiac and respiratory interoceptive tasks, with physiological recordings, structured experience reports, and emotional tasks; compare models containing only objective signals with models adding interoceptive reports, with pre-registered out-of-sample predictions and confound control. Training and follow-up over 8 weeks, independent replication in about 120 participants, project over 18 months. It can test whether subjective reports provide additional information, but cannot adjudicate the origin of all new scientific concepts.

What it would overturn
If reports have reliable incremental value, it would only contradict the assumption in specific models that "objective physiological measurements already contain all relevant predictive information," and would not overturn scientific methodology.

Specificity of Seth's formulation
If "inner senses" refer to interoception, this is compatible with existing research; if it refers to abilities beyond bodily signal pathways, then additional specification of information sources and blind testing tasks is required.
Note
Interoception is already an active research area, e.g., the [Sarah Garfinkel research group](https://www.ucl.ac.uk/brain-sciences/icn/research/research-groups/clinical-and-affective-neuroscience), but it is not an automatic synonym for Seth's inner senses.
