Adjudicating experiment
Approximately 150 creators complete a within-subject crossover experiment over 4 weeks with improvisation, a difficulty-matched copying task, and rest; actual durations randomly set to 5, 15, or 30 minutes with hidden clocks, measuring prospective and retrospective time judgments, flow, arousal, and EEG dynamics. Compare whether creative states alter subjective timing and test whether neural state models account for differences. This design can only adjudicate the subjective time version; a literal independent time would first require quantitative predictions violating usual temporal order or duration constraints, for which valid sample sizes and experimental periods cannot currently be specified.

What it would overturn
Only if an independent time variable in creative processes that cannot be reduced to physical temporal sequencing is demonstrated would the assumption that cognitive processes are implemented by neural dynamics in physical time be challenged.

Specificity of Seth's formulation
The weak reading is merely known subjective time distortion; the strong reading provides no account of how independent time affects observable events, yielding no distinguishable predictions.
Note
Losing track of time, underestimating duration, or experiencing altered event order during creation cannot alone demonstrate the existence of another physical time.
