Approximately 180 participants, stratified by hypnotizability, complete crossover sessions over 3 weeks: light attentional disengagement, relaxation, and waking control; random audiovisual cues require immediate report of environmental targets, with a self-terminating button, measuring accuracy, reaction time distribution, and time to full recovery, with an a priori threshold for 'instant.' For the visual version, add eye-tracking, near visual acuity, and contrast sensitivity staircase measures, and manipulate single-task vs. auditory dual-task load; fix illumination, distance, refractive correction, and record pupil, blink, and accommodation changes.
