Research Program / Claims / distortion-10

Distortion has two meanings: misinterpretation of information and the natural result of action copying itself; the two are similar.

This program treats the Seth Material as a source of hypotheses, not as doctrine to be validated. Lead dossiers are AI-compiled from the corpus with a book-and-session citation after every statement; literature reviews are AI web-search summaries whose references were all DOI-verified against Crossref; the agenda draft is an AI synthesis. None of it is Seth's original text, and none of it represents scientific consensus. English fields are machine-translated; the Chinese text is authoritative.

Adjudicating experiment
Build native corpora of at least 50 practitioners each for English and Chinese, with at least 1 million words or equivalent text, and include ordinary narratives and religious talks as controls; bilingual coders blind-label information misinterpretation, copy differences, creative alterations, and expressions of uncertainty, compute inter-coder reliability, model with speakers and traditions as hierarchical levels, over 12–18 months. Additionally, with 200 participants, use repetition and action-copying tasks to test whether the two error types share a latent variable; cross-cultural common expression and common mechanism must be judged separately.
Suggested paper title
Semantic Distinctions Between Misinterpretation and Replication Variability Across Languages and Narrative Practices
What it would overturn
If the two error types are shown to have the same causal mechanism, it would modify the hypothesis that 'interpretation bias and replication variability belong to separable error processes.'

Specificity of Seth's formulation
Provides a dichotomous distinction suitable for text coding, but 'similar' does not specify whether the similarity is semantic, statistical, or causal; polysemy itself is not a scientific finding.
Note
No studies targeting Seth-style distortion in Chinese-English channeling corpora were found; native texts should be analyzed with control for translation, genre, and tradition, and transitional words or ambiguous language should not be treated directly as objective distortion.
