Research Program / Claims / guilt-5

Debt or original sin does not involve guilt in the usual sense; its essence is a challenge facing the personality, not a sin.

债务或原罪感并无通常意义下的罪恶感,其实质是人格面临的挑战而非罪。

This program treats the Seth Material as a source of hypotheses, not as doctrine to be validated. Lead dossiers are AI-compiled from the corpus with a book-and-session citation after every statement; literature reviews are AI web-search summaries whose references were all DOI-verified against Crossref; the agenda draft is an AI synthesis. None of it is Seth's original text, and none of it represents scientific consensus. English fields are machine-translated; the Chinese text is authoritative.

Adjudicating experiment
Build historical and contemporary corpora in 30–50 languages. Native experts blindly code semantic overlap among debt, guilt, and obligation, controlling for language family and religious background. Then recruit about 2,400 people for bilingual switching and debt-wording random experiments, measuring moral blame, guilt, shame, repayment obligation, and borrowing choices over 18–24 months. Additionally, compare challenge reappraisal versus active control in about 300 people with self-reported original sin distress, following up for 6 months.

Debt–Guilt Semantic Overlap and Moral Appraisal: A Preregistered Cross-Linguistic Study
What it would overturn
If semantic manipulation produces stable causal effects, it will revise the null-effect hypothesis that debt wording does not affect moral evaluation and economic choices after controlling for institutions and culture; it cannot adjudicate original sin ontology.

Specificity of Seth's formulation
'Challenge rather than sin' sounds like an interpretative framework lacking falsifiable conditions; after translating it into a cognitive reappraisal intervention, there are no clearly unique predictions compared to existing reappraisal theories.
Note
The proposed cross-linguistic plan has similar published studies; semantic overlap does not prove the essence of guilt; monetary debt, relational obligation, and original sin should be modeled separately.
