Hypnosis is a state that increases focus, not similar to sleep; it allows individuals to use native abilities and potential.

This program treats the Seth Material as a source of hypotheses, not as doctrine to be validated. Lead dossiers are AI-compiled from the corpus with a book-and-session citation after every statement; literature reviews are AI web-search summaries whose references were all DOI-verified against Crossref; the agenda draft is an AI synthesis. None of it is Seth's original text, and none of it represents scientific consensus. English fields are machine-translated; the Chinese text is authoritative.

Adjudicating experiment
A pre-registered 2×2 randomized experiment with 320 participants stratified by hypnotic susceptibility: hypnotic induction or awake relaxation, combined with attentional suggestion or neutral instructions; compare Stroop interference, omission rates, false alarm rates, and reaction time variability on sustained attention tasks, and use EEG to rule out sleep onset. Each person participates twice with a one-week interval, total duration 6–9 months; only cross-task improvement excluding speed–accuracy trade-offs would support enhanced general attentional control.
Suggested paper title
Hypnotic Induction and Suggestion Effects on Selective and Sustained Attention: A Pre-registered Factorial Trial
What it would overturn
Limited attentional modulation findings do not overturn the current mainstream hypothesis; if stable cross-task gains independent of suggestions emerge, it would modify the explanation that "cognitive gains from hypnosis mainly depend on task-specific suggestions."

Specificity of Seth's formulation
"Attentional focus, not sleep" is compatible with modern descriptions, but "increased focus" does not distinguish between focused experience and objective ability, and "native potential" is not quantified, so it is no more specific than existing hypotheses.
Note
supported applies only to the core of attentional focus and distinction from sleep, not encompassing unlimited potential; the entire table is a targeted search as of 2026-09-06, untested indicates no direct test of the original proposition was found, not proving no one has ever studied it; sample sizes are planned levels, further power analysis needed according to minimal meaningful effects; proposed topics are not published papers.
