Adjudicating experiment
The original statement lacks an independent measurement definition beyond matter, so no experiment can directly adjudicate its ontological content. A multicenter study of approximately 300 patients with disorders of consciousness could first be conducted, repeating standard behavioral assessments, instruction-based EEG, and fMRI tasks over 12 months; test whether covert cognitive responses can predict recovery of autobiographical memory and personality continuity. Specificity of Seth's formulation
"Partially contained in matter" and "far beyond usual assumptions" do not specify how much beyond or in what task performance, so it is not more predictively precise than existing hypotheses such as covert awareness.
