Clock time was invented by the conscious ego for various reasons, foremost among them fear, and arose from a mistaken conception of its own duality.

时钟时间是有意识的自我为了各种理由所发明,恐惧居于首位,它产生于对自身二元性的错误观念。

This program treats the Seth Material as a source of hypotheses, not as doctrine to be validated. Lead dossiers are AI-compiled from the corpus with a book-and-session citation after every statement; literature reviews are AI web-search summaries whose references were all DOI-verified against Crossref; the agenda draft is an AI synthesis. None of it is Seth's original text, and none of it represents scientific consensus. English fields are machine-translated; the Chinese text is authoritative.

Adjudicating experiment
Motivations for social timekeeping and biological timekeeping should be studied separately. The social component could recruit approximately 600 participants, orthogonally manipulate threat intensity and the need for cooperative scheduling, and observe behaviors such as voluntarily checking clocks, adopting shared time rules, and paying for timekeeping tools. Each participant would complete three experiments over a project lasting 6–9 months. The historical component would compile records of clock and calendar adoption across approximately 50–100 societies or historical periods, pre-register the coding of fear-related materials, agricultural cycles, trade, administrative coordination, and technological conditions, and use models that control for shared historical origins. This component would take 2–3 years. Experiments can test only contemporary motivations, and historical records may also be insufficient to establish the original causes.
Suggested paper title
Threat and Coordination Demands as Predictors of External Timekeeping
What it would overturn
If cross-cultural evidence demonstrates that fear has an independent and primary causal role, this would revise the explanatory framework that regards social coordination and environmental cycles as the principal drivers of external timekeeping systems.

Specificity of Seth's formulation
“Fear is foremost” can generate predictions that compete with those based on coordination needs, but “a mistaken conception of duality” has no operational definition. The original statement also does not distinguish physical time, biological timekeeping, subjective time, and social clock systems.
Note
The claim is labeled untested when interpreted as concerning the origins of social clock systems. If extended to mean that all timekeeping is created by the conscious ego, it conflicts with evidence of timekeeping in cell-free systems and systems without nervous systems.
