Adjudicating experiment
The original case cannot be retrospectively supplemented with controlled experiments. Approximately 180 participants can be recruited using a crossover VR design with three conditions: normal first-person, third-person synchronous tactile, and third-person asynchronous tactile; measure temporal bisection/duration reproduction, spatial location memory, and 24-hour episodic memory; control for visible information in the viewpoint, attention, arousal, dizziness, and task expectations, project duration 12–18 months. Additionally, approximately 100 individuals claiming ability to repeatedly induce such experiences each perform 50 trials to identify random targets at audiovisually inaccessible locations, double-blind, pre-registered, and independently replicated. Only the latter can test information acquisition without conventional sensory channels, but it still cannot alone prove consciousness leaving the body.
