About 240 adults in a 2×2 randomized design: attention training or matched relaxation control, combined with framing emphasizing potential plasticity or neutral; do not tell participants that other realities are confirmed. Training for 8 weeks, follow-up 3 months; project about 18 months. Measure expectancy, absorption tendency, perceptual discrimination d′, metacognitive efficiency, EEG, and pre-specified fMRI connectivity; test whether framing improves objective performance through reproducible neural changes, controlling response criterion shifts. To test a unique electromagnetic mechanism, one must first provide frequency band, spatial location, and perturbation predictions; functional connectivity correlations are insufficient to prove that mechanism.
