First define how the 'own system' influences the measurable world; otherwise, no experiment can adjudicate its existence. A stratified population survey of approximately 3,000 people followed for 12 months could be conducted to distinguish visual imagery, presence sensations, dream and sleep-border experiences, and to estimate incidence rates.
